To Mama,
We broke the rules this weekend. This weekend we held our little one as she slept instead of encouraging her to sleep in the pack and play while we were away. Why?
Well, she had a cold. Sneezing, runny nose, sniffles.
Did it stop her from being the adventurer and entertainer during the day? Nope!
Our angel was the star of the show while we were on vacation with family this weekend. She made everyone laugh and smile as she played with her toys and made funny noises with her mouth. She sat like a big girl in her high chair at the table and ate her meals with everyone else. She even went on a horse drawn sleigh ride in the snow.
When bedtime came, she would lay in the pack and play for a little bit. Fuss, cry, become even more congested and fight sleep. Picked her up, she burrowed against my chest and within minutes, she was out like a light.
Thankfully, she slept. Me? Eh…not so much.
Does it make the day ahead a little tougher? Sure… mama’s not at her best, baby girl is trying to settle back into a routine and there’s a ton of laundry to be done and bags to unpack. It’ll get done. I’ll get my rest and she will get back into her groove.
Sick babes need mama snuggles. It’s the way I was when I was little and I love that it’s where baby girl wants to be when things are different and she’s not feeling well.
To all my mama’s out there holding sniffly babes, you got this. You’re their home. You’re a great mama and you’re in good company.
With love,
a snuggled mama
